And the Fifth Big-Screen Batman is… Ben Affleck!

New BatmanAre you looking forward to the much-anticipated pairing of Batman and Superman, two adored superheroes? As Warner Bros. has announced, in Man of Steel sequel, Ben Affleck is set to star as Batman. The outstanding career of this actor was the reason why he was hired, according to one of the presidents at Warner Bros, Greg Silverman. Together with the director, Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck is believed to bring new dimension to the duality of this DC Comics character.

Zack Snyder believes that Ben Affleck will provide an exciting counter balance to Henry’s Superman, since he should create a portrayal of someone wised and older than Clark Kent bearing the scars of a crime fighter. On the other hand, he has to retain Bruce Wayne’s charm. Snyder is reportedly anticipating working with Ben on this grand project.

Just to remind you, Affleck has a longstanding relationship with Warner Bros. Argo, Academy Award winning Best Picture, was the most recent hit Ben did for this studio. His upcoming directorial project will also be produced under pre-production name “Live by Night”. Also, this talented actor has played Daredevil in the same named flick in 2003, so Ben’s no stranger to the superhero gigs. Michael Keaton was the first big-screen Batman, in Tim Burton’s move from 1989, and Ben Affleck will be fifth.

Earlier this year, it was announced that The Man of Steel sequel will be called Batman vs. Superman and it will reunite Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurance Fishburne and Diane Lane. The production will most likely begin in 2014 and the movie is expected to hit theatres on July 17, 2015. The screenwriter of the sequel is David S. Goyer.

This project will place two superheroes, Batman and Superman, for the first time together on the big screen. However, fans reacted differently. Largely disappointing Daredevil was a decade before and people still don’t believe Ben Affleck will be able to create a requiring character Batman certainly is. Time will tell.
