Cannon must be referring to Howard Stern, the extremely controversial and highly paid new judge of America’s Got Talent, by his word ‘Revolution’.

The viewers at Los Angeles were quite excited about the new judge as they were shouting his name continuously.

Doubtlessly Stern ruled the audience’s hearts with his personality of a strict judge and a kind adviser blended into one.

The auditions at LA and St. Louis too were full of highlights. LA auditions were highlighted by William Close who played an instrument which he named an Earth Harp and mesmerized the listeners! Then there were Amazing Elizabeth, Cris La Vrar – the freestyle rapper, Elements Dance Crew, All Wheel Sport – a sport-bike performance, and the very sweet Jorge and Alexa Narvaez – the father and daughter duo who gave a singing performance! Alexa is just 7 years old.

The auditions at St. Louis featured Ben Black – the cross-bow sharpshooter, Lightwire Theater – the high-tech dance glowing in the dark, the Loyalty Dance Crew – who do fast food jobs, but love to dance, and Maurice and Shanice – another very adorable father-daughter singer duo, whose performance was named by Stern as ‘perfection’.

America’s Got Talent is dazzling with talents from all over the country. However the show is facing a tough competition by Dancing With The Stars on ABC, Bones season finale on Fox and the wedding episode of Mike and Molly along with How I Met Your Mother on CBS, which was not the case with last year’s, as the show had been premiered following the end of broadcast season.

Anyway, Howard Stern has hoped at the end of the show that they are on their way. The nation will be waiting to see his hope to come true!

There is nothing better than snuggling up and watching a good film. With so many amazing films that were made specifically for TV, there is no excuse not to. The following will review two of the very best surprisingly good movies made for Cable TV.

The Burning Bed

The Burning Bed is a true story made into a film. Originally a book written by Faith McNulty about Francine Hughes, the Burning Bed was first shown on October 8, 1984 in America on NBC. It starred Farrah Fawcett as Francine Hughes, and Paul LeMat as Mickey Hughes.

After suffering extreme abuse at the hands of her husband for thirteen years, Francine, played by Farrah Fawcett, sets fire to her husband’s bed while he is sleeping. Her husband Mickey Hughes was burned alive and the house was destroyed on the 9th of March, 1977.

This film didn’t need to be adapted to make it a “better” movie; it stays with the actual real life events throughout. The film starts after the fire when Francine Hughes hands herself in to the police, telling them she had just killed her husband. The film continues on with her defense attorney telling her story in court to a jury. The true story is so heart wrenching looking back at the gruesome torture she suffered at the hands of her husband that she was found not guilty due to temporary insanity.

Farrah Fawcett was nominated for an Emmy as best actress, for her outstanding performance as the battered wife. Paul LeMat received a nomination for best supporting actor, playing the role of her abusive husband. The film itself received many Emmy Award nominations. At the first International Television Movie Festival, The Burning Bed was named as “Best TV Feature”.

This film is a definite must see if you haven’t already seen it. It stays so true to the real life facts, (showing how hard it is for abused women to get help), that it has also been credited with inspiring legal reforms regarding women’s rights in many states. It really is heart wrenching and truly brings to life the emotional crises of abused women.

The Day After

If you are old enough to remember the 1980s, you will remember all the adverts on TV and lessons at school about how to survive a nuclear bomb attack. Nuclear war was at the back of everyone’s mind in the 80s due to the tensions between the Soviet Union and America. I remember being extremely scared that nuclear war might break out at any minute.

Then on November 20, 1983, the ABC television network released The Day After. It is one of the scariest films ever seen. It shows what could actually happen if nuclear war was to break out, and the fact that it came out in the 80s just made the film even more scary.

The Day After focuses mainly on towns around Kansas City, it starts by introducing us to various characters before the nuclear attack. Then it shows the nuclear attack in graphic detail, with wide spread panic, people falling over each other, trampling each other trying to find cover. It even shows people getting incinerated while in mid-stride trying to run away. It really is very scary. Then the film focuses on the survivors finding each other and how they cope with the effects of the fallout.

Although the nuclear attack is terrifying, the wasteland left behind is where this film really really hits home. With the survivors picking through the rubble trying to find food and water that isn’t there, they form lawless gangs to stay alive before the radiation sickness kills them. For some of the survivors the pure misery of it all drives them to suicide.

One of the scariest movies ever made for TV, The Day After is nightmare material, mainly because it is not science fiction, it is based on science fact and it could actually happen.

Over the past ten years the market has seen a huge shift in television sets.  Even the older tube style sets that were top of the line cannot be sold for more than fifty dollars anymore, and that is if anyone will take it in the first place.  The technology has changed so much in these sets that even people extremely experienced with technology no longer understand how they work or the important features.  With a little knowledge, one can figure out which one is best for them and make an educated buying decision.

 

Today the largest differentiation is the technology behind the backlight of the device.  Up until the last few years all televisions contained a fluorescent style light behind them to provide the longevity they needed along with the level of brightness.  After a while televisions started becoming brighter to provide a more brilliant picture, and they started using an incredible amount of electricity to power themselves.  These bulbs also required some depth because of how they were created, and the television required a deeper build to accommodate it.  Because of these issues and the development of newer technologies at the time, manufacturers started looking at other methods of backlighting.

The LED Advantage

A clear winner emerged with the advancement of LED bulb technology.  Not only did they output more light, but they also used less power and were able to be made larger or smaller based on need.  Even though most manufacturers compensated for the issue with the LCD portion, the LED bulbs also created a much more true white light which results in more true-to-life colors.  This technology was adapted further to create a number of bulbs in an array behind the screen.  Instead of one large light, today’s sets will have upwards of 160 bulbs and zones that allow for dimming as the picture deems necessary.  When someone is running down a dungeon corridor and there are torches on the wall, the torches will output more light than their surroundings, making them appear more real.  This also increases contrast ratios drastically, and provides a much truer picture rather than one washed out by an even light behind the screen.

Another interesting progression of this technology comes with wider viewing angles.  Even though a lot of this has to do with the LCD portion, the backlight is able to be closer to the screen and thus there is less dimming.  This allows one to sit far to the side in some comfortable custom home theater chairs and see the picture the way it was meant to be seen.  The only problem is these televisions are so bright that, with the wrong settings, they can hurt one’s eyes if positioned too close in some Elite home theatre seating.

Everyone loves to have their shelf filled with collection of classic Sci-Fi movies, some may not be classic but fun to watch. Since last few months, some good Sci-fi movies have been released to DVD. Typical weapons will not do the technique to free the earth of these ghosts, so Cajun is called to handle the business.

Integrating Sci-Fi with other genres is always not safe, but it can also lead in some very amusing movies. “High Plains Invaders” is one movie which is science fiction as well as action western. Along with this movie, the forthcoming DVD release of “Cowboys and Aliens” is the two of the more amusing sci-fi movies coming to DVD in 2011. Sebastian Knapp and James Marsters are in lead role.

“Tremors” is another release to DVD, but it has already been released to Blu-ray. This classic integrates comedy, horror and sci-fi into one huge fun ball. The real movie came in 1990, so this is a wonderful opportunity to see stars like Reba McEntire, Kevin Bacon and John Goodwin in their early stages of career. Newcomers will get an inspiration from this movie and sci-fi fans will love it on Blu-ray.

“Death Race” and “Death Race 2” have been released on Blu-ray as a combination. Jason Statham is the main attraction in this movie, which became a classic quickly. The set also includes “Death Race” that is unrated version and has some amazing special features that provide meaningful viewing pleasure even after the movie is over.

The upcoming film is an action Western movie of which Gore Verbinski is the director and Walt Disney Pictures is the distributors. Armie Hammer is in the lead role with Johnny Depp as Tonto.

While disclosing some points about the much-awaited film, the producer Jerry Bruckheimer has divulged that though The Lone Ranger is largely focused on the masked gunfighter Armie Hammer, Tonto of Johnny Depp will be a pivotal character in the story.

Jerry Bruckheimer told that Johnny Depp (Tonto) will be telling the story of The Lone Ranger and thus will enter in the story’s spotlight. Bruckheimer explained that Depp won’t be the servant as in the radio series or TV series, but he will be in a quite different role.

The Hitches in Making of The Lone Ranger

The Lone Ranger has seen several setbacks. Initially decided to be made by Columbia Pictures in March 2002, the film was to get its script written by David Janet Peoples, but was rewritten by Laeta Kalogridis and Jonathan Mostow was roped in as a director. Then The Weinstein Company got interested to buy its rights from Classic Media, the original right-holder. But at last in May 2007, producer Jerry Bruckheimer got it for Walt Disney Pictures. In March 2008, Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio were chosen to write the script. These two were formerly associated with Bruckheimer. In September 2008, Johnny Depp was declared to be portraying Tonto. After this, since the script by Elliott and Rossio had a supernatural air, Justin Haythe has been roped in to rewrite it. The director of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Mike Newell too had entered into negotiations to direct The Lone Ranger, but in September 2010, Gore Verbinsky was roped in as a director.

Filming

The film at last came actually on the floor in the first week of March 2012 and it was on 8^th March, that the posters of Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger were first released.

Directed by Richard Linklater, these movies are about the magical and life-altering attraction between Celine (starring Julie Delpie) and Jesse (starring Ethan Hawke). In the first part (Before Sunrise) those two strangers, an American man and a French women in early 20s meet on a train heading from Budapest to Vienna. Because of a great attraction between them, they decide to spend few hours together in Vienna, where they shared the memorable wonderful moments together. The connection between them becomes so deep and passionate that they decide and promise each other that they would meet again on an exact day. Of course, that meeting does not happen. Almost a decade after their European time together, they spontaneously meet as changed and mature people with much different lives than they imagined and thought they will be. These movies have many amazing, realistic dialogues and quotes, beautiful poignant and often profound screenplays and absolutely fantastic scenery. The movie will touch all those romantic souls, but even the skeptics like at least beautiful soundtrack, photography of two European lovely cities, Paris and Vienna. Especially interesting about these two movies is that they somehow follow our hopes and goals, but also how we accept the changes and life paths.

This movie, directed by Henry Selick (known for The Nightmare Before Christmas) follows the life of a nine year old Coraline Jones (Dakota Fanning’s voice) not very pleased by moving to a new home with her busy parents who do not pay enough attention to her. When she suddenly finds a small hidden door in her new apartment, Coraline discovers a parallel world where everything that surrounds her, including her room, apartment, neighbors, parents seems much better and beautiful. Unfortunately, at one moment this wonderful parallel world turns to be a frightening place.

Coraline is the movie that might be scary enough to inspire nightmares involving various button-eyed creatures and children in some terrible and unpleasant world. However, parents could talk to their children do they ever feel lonely like Coraline, is there something they wish for. It is good to make children think about the “better” life and that grass in fact might seem greener on the other side, but that reality is usually not so beautiful as it seemed. So, Coraline opens some really deep and educative themes, so it is the type of the movie you should watch together with your kids, stop whenever they are frightened and to explain them situations they might not be able to understand properly. Coraline is one refreshing and innovative animated movie, especially suitable for teenagers, but better to be watched at home.

Grace Kelly was famous Hollywood actress when she was introduced to Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1955 on the Cannes Film Festival. After their first meeting, the Prince went to the U.S. and he proposed Grace. After their royal wedding ceremony, she ended up her acting career. The movie “Grace of Monaco” does not follow her acting period, but Grace of Monaco, the mother of two children, the monarch and the former Oscar winner, in the early 1960′s. Grace Kelly was extraordinary talented and beautiful woman and she deserves the best crew to film the movie about any period of her exciting and fulfilled life, even though she passed away after the car accident when she was only 52 years old. It is even hard to imagine who would be better in the leading role than Nicole Kidman and it is clear that she will deliver an amazing performance in this interesting movie. Movie expert speculate that this role is perfect for Nicole Kidman and that it might even bring her another Oscar nomination. We look forward to hearing some new casting news, who has got the other roles etc.
